3rd Floor Bathroom
The 3rd floor bathroom was completed during the summer of 2004. Previously, the 3rd floor had been closed off for apporximately 20 years. It was used as an apartment by a relative of the former owner.
As you can see the walls were painted a very dark red. The toilet used 5 gallons with every flush and the lid never stayed up.
Under the two layers of vinyl flooring, one of which was faux wood, was hardwood floors. The vinyl was carefully removed and the wood was restored.
The tub had a small lavatory faucet attached to it. The claws on the tub were unnatractive and more like stumps.
Now the color on the wall is a soft yellow complimented by white wainscoating. A pedastal sink was put in place as well as a new toilet that uses far less water.
My mother made the valance. The pull-chain you see in front of the valance is from an updated light fixture
In order to hide the 'stumps' I boxed in the tub. The result is lot more room for soaps and shampoos that are in arms reach. A small door was put in place just in case I needed to access the trap or other supply lines.
The old faucet was removed and a British telephone faucet was installed.
